Overview
Fue el director de cine Jean Renoir quien, en su biografía sobre su padre, contó cómo el pintor, durante una estancia en Sicilia con su modelo, amante y, más tarde, esposa, Aline Charigot, perdió la cartera y se quedó sin dinero, y cómo, a causa de ello, ambos fueron hospedados por un campesino, cerca de Agrigento. Sin embargo, no existen pruebas ni documentos que corroboren este episodio. Según algunos, no sucedió jamás. ¿O quizá sí? ¿Y en aquellos días el pintor realizó algunos cuadros que luego regaló al campesino que lo había hospedado? De esa estancia y de las telas que nadie vio jamás tratan las cartas que el notario de Agrigento, Michele Riotta, autor en su juventud de un libro sobre Renoir, escribe a la misteriosa y hermosa Alma Corradi. A raíz de ello, nace un romance.
